Bio

Everyone who knows pianist/percussionist Bill Brennan will tell you he’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. He’s also pretty humble considering he’s contributed to over 140 albums to date. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador, he comes from a family of singers & story tellers. He’s definitely an excellent addition to any kitchen party. Bill is a pillar of his community and a fearless performer, composer and arranger of contemporary classical, jazz, folk and world music. His original albums are devastatingly beautiful and include: Kaleidoscope – Music for Mallet Instruments (2024 ECMA and MusicNL Classical Album of the Year), Solo Piano 2 (MusicNL Instrumental Album of the Year), and Dreaming in Gamelan, with co-composer Andy McNeill receiving worldwide praise. 2026 brought his first Juno as orchestrator of Deantha Edmunds’ piece Angmalukisaa. He also directs the Jazz East Big Band and Gamelan Sagara Asih. Bill has toured globally, but it is a little known fact that he brings smoked meat to most driving gigs…and he’s always willing to share. God love him!

Andrea Koziol is an open hearted and visceral vocalist, performing songwriter, improvisor, poet and actor based in Toronto Ontario. She’s written and released 5 solo albums (Coming of Age, Songs, Simple, Mission:Bliss, Half Way Sweet) and performed in folk and jazz festivals, dive bars and concert halls all over North America. She has dug into brilliant music theater projects including The Cave (Tomson Highway/John Millard), co-written with dozens of young and established artists, sung with many lovely people in elder care, had a couple of beautiful kids and made a lot of pickles. Andrea has the (un?)fortunate disease of automatically singing harmonies to any song that’s playing…which is really only a problem for her family in local grocery stores.

Reviews

Bill Brennan and Andrea Koziol make music that is elegant, impulsive, sleek, unfiltered, sexy, funky, subtle, caring and as real as it can be. Let these songs into your world and you will have no choice but to be exactly where you are.
(Tom Allen, host of CBC Radio’s “Shift”)

Koziol is brilliant throughout, and Brennan delivers his trademark honest and rich musical approach. To be savoured for years to come…”
(Mark Forward – Stratford Summer Music Festival)

“…nimble interpretative panache and sure musical taste.”
(Andrew Timar, The Wholenote)

“Receiving a standing ovation, the group returned for an encore, once again wowing the crowd with Koziol’s impressive vocal capabilities and Brennan’s radiant piano playing.”
(Wendy Rose – St. John’s Telegram)

Andrea Koziol brings delicate and powerful magic to songs.  Teaming up with ivories tinkler Bill Brennan is too tasty.  So great that the Chesterfield Inlet duo made their way back to weave their love of a good tune into a luscious music experience.
(Derek Andrews – Music Curator/Artistic Director/Festival Promoter)

Andrea Koziol and Bill Brennan gave an unforgettable performance on our stage… that resulted in a wonderful warm energy in the room! Well done!
(Mary Stewart – General Manager Hugh’s Room Toronto)
